MANX Gas is carrying out emergency excavations following reports of a gas escape near to the grandstand on Glencrutchery Road in Douglas.

Robert Gardner, Manx Gas director and engineering manager, said: "Once we have identified the source we will be dealing with the escape as quickly as possible and are hopeful that the work will take no longer than between three to four days."
