A MOTORIST had to be cut from their car after crashing near to the Gutheries Memorial on the Mountain Road on Saturday.
The driver of a RS Ford Focus, which was travelling from Ramsey to Douglas, was involved in a heavy impact, single car road traffic collision at approximately 8.20pm.
Two fire appliances from Ramsey Fire Station and an ambulance attended the scene and on arrival found the motorist to be complaining of neck and chest pain.
Due to the driver's symptoms the fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car before transferring the motorist, on a spinal board, to Noble's Hospital. The motorist remained conscious throughout the procedure.
The road remained closed for some time following the collision so that the police could carry out a full investigation to the cause of the crash and so that the damaged vehicle and debris could be recovered safely.
