Police warning after theft from unlocked van

by isleofman.com 15th May 2011

AN OPPORTUNIST thief stole goods from an unlocked white van in Douglas on Friday evening, resulting in a warning to other drivers from police.

A number of personal items and cash were taken from the van which was parked at the side of Sam Webb’s public house in Castle Street at around 3.30pm on Friday.

Police spokesman, Sergeant Gavin Callow from the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team, said, “Although this type of crime is thankfully rare an opportunist thief has taken advantage of an unlocked vehicle.

“It is a timely reminder to keep your vehicles locked. This area would have been busy and if anyone has seen anything I would urge them to contact the police.

Anyone with information is asked to speak to Sergeant Callow or use the Crimestoppers telephone line anonymously.
