by isleofman.com 13th May 2011

Manx National Heritage is looking for an ACE artist to design the new cards for a scheme which allows children in full time education free access to heritage sites in the Island.

Supported by Conister Bank and the Department of Education and Children, Manx National Heritage is re-launching the ACE scheme for 2012.

The ACE card allows children under the age of 18, who are in full time education and resident in the Isle of Man, free admission to any Manx National Heritage attraction. Those over 12 can visit each site independently if they wish.

The scheme has already proven popular with more than 10,000 recorded visits to heritage attractions recorded since the launch in January last year.

Two winning designs will be chosen as the front of the new ACE card. Artists must choose a design which is inspired by Manx heritage which can take the form of a drawing, photograph, painting or digital image. The entry must also feature the word ACE.

There are two age categories for the competition – five to 11 years and 12 to 18 years inclusive. The winning artists will also receive £50 of art supplies for their classroom courtesy of Conister Bank.

Entries should be submitted in landscape form and must be no larger than A4. The following information needs to be submitted on the back – name and age of designer, school name and a contact telephone number for the school or parent.

They should be sent to - ACE Art and Design Competition, Manx Museum, Kingswood Grove, Douglas, Isle of Man IM1 3LY.

The closing date for entries is June 24. Entries will not be returned.
