Speaking at Mount Murray this week, Mr Downie said, “Hugh Davidson is a person of international renown and I would like to place it on record the Isle of Man government’s grateful thanks for his insight and his excellent exposition.
“He is well travelled and known all over the world for his personal expertise in marketing . . . it has directly resulted in the Isle of Man seeing a number of new clients from all over the world and has attracted new companies to the Island.”
Manx-born Professor Davidson has worked in 15 countries at a senior marketing level, including European president of a market leading global company and was for 12 years Visiting Professor of Marketing at Cranfield University School of Management.
He was the guest speaker this week for Intelligence Limited at Mount Murray, giving a presentation on how the key factors for success in marketing have changed because of the internet and the new opportunities this presents.
Mr Downie also praised Professor Davidson’s personal philanthropic gestures in supporting a wide range of Isle of Man charities. “Young people on the Island would be well advised to look at what professor Davidson has done and try to emulate him.”
