THE Old England XI will visit the Island this summer as guests of the Isle of Man Cricket Association.
11 players, who have played for England in either one day internationals of test series will visit between August 19 and August 21.
The cricket team will comprise of John Lever as captain, Darren Bicknall, Paul Bicknall, Paul Jarvis, John Hardy, Warren Hegg, Geoff Humpage, Peter Martin, Neal Radford, Clive Radley, Derek Randall and Neil Smith. The players will be managed by Jim Parkes.
Barry Smith, the chair of the Isle of Man Cricket Association (IOMCA), said: "We certainly hope that this will be an extremely successful weekend for Isle of Man cricket generally.
"The IOMCA is a registered charity and funds are needed for the development of the game in the Isle of Man and to assist clubs with the development of facilities. All monies received for the weekend will be for the IOMCA once all costs are covered."
The Old England XI will play an Isle of Man XI on Friday, August 19, at Cronkbourne. This will be followed by a dinner at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club.
On the Saturday there will be a golf day where various members of the Old England XI will be available to complete a four ball with various corporate teams. This will be followed by a barbeque at Cronkbourne.
The IOMCA has said it is "looking forward to the weekend with great anticipation" and said it hopes that it is well supported by the Island.
