Irish fencing coach puts on fencing masterclass

CHILDREN from the Isle of Man got the opportunity to try fencing last weekend.

 

The children, who suffer from dyspraxia, developmental coordination disorder and associated conditions, tried the sport at the National Sports Centre.

 

Northern Ireland's national fencing coach Mike Westgate led 36 children in the session on Saturday. He taught the basics of modern fencing including footwork and movement skills.

 

The Boston Group's Charitable Foundation supported the session and has also purchased two sets of fencing equipment. for the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure's sports development unit.
