Familiar face becomes CEO at space company

by isleofman.com 12th May 2011

Manx-based space company Excalibur Almaz has appointed a new chief executive officer.

Buckner Hightower has been Acting CEO since February and was formally appointed to his new position by the board of directors earlier this month.

He is already a familiar face at Excalibur Almaz, having been executive vice president of business at the firm for the last five years.

Mr Hightower has worked with aerospace organisations in the Soviet Union and Russian Federation since 1988.

Excalibur Almaz currently has two Russian space stations in storage at Jurby, which it hopes to eventually launch as space hotels.

There will be an opportunity for members of the public to see the space stations when they are put on display in June.
