Ramsey commissioner says new bowling alley is important for town’s regeneration

by isleofman.com 11th May 2011

MORE than 1,000 people visited the new Sure Strike bowling and leisure centre in Ramsey for its official opening on Saturday

Captain Nigel Malpass, the chairman of the Ramsey Town Commissioners, cut the ribbon to the venue, which is on Queen's Promenade, alongside owner Alan Price.

The captain said: "If we're talking about Ramsey regeneration, this personifies for me the efforts that have gone into making this happen today.

"It is quite often that we hear companies say that they're interested in promoting towns and events.

"Sure for me have delivered with their sponsorship and their help because Alan has had a lot of hurdles to overcome. He's been helped by Sure's team, by government and by Tynwald officials.

"Just look around town - the hotel has now started to be built and people are having their shop fronts cleaned up - regeneration is officially starting this week."

Rose Dahlan, marketing and PR manager at Sure, said: "It was a great turnout and everyone seemed to have a good time, whether they were enjoying the excellent food from the Sure Strike restaurant, bowling or taking part in the various other activities we had going.

"We really believe that this is something good for the Island and we are proud to be supporting it. I hope everyone will get a chance to visit Sure Strike."

The Sure Strike bowling and leisure centre is open seven days a week, from 8am to 11pm. The restaurant is open from 8am and bowling begins at 10am. Sure customers can bowl at half price every Wednesday.
