IAN Hutchinson will not be racing at this year's TT, it has been confirmed.
The 31-year-old Yorkshireman, who won all five solo races at last year's event, is still recovering from a serious crash at a short circuit event at the end of last season.
He has had 16 operations and skin grafts after suffering a compound fracture of the tibia and fibia in his left leg during the incident in the first lap of the Silverstone British Supersport race in September.
He had been due to compete for Yamaha - for a team run by Shaun Muir - in what is the company's 50th anniversary at the TT.
However the eight-times TT winner will take part in an Arai Parade Lap with MotoGP legend Mick Doohan and current MotoGP aces Nicky Hayden and Cal Crutchlow during this year's event.
Ian said: "I'm gutted not to be able to compete at the TT Races this year.
"I've done everything I could to be there but I've just run out of time.
"I have to listen to the advice of the surgeon and think of my long-term fitness.
"This has only made me more determined to get back on the bike and return to racing later this year. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank both Yamaha and Shaun Muir for being so supportive and I'm looking forward to the chance to repay them."
Shaun Muir said: "Everyone at Yamaha is really disappointed for Ian who has worked so hard to get back to fitness but we have always said that this is a two year deal and we look forward to seeing him return to the TT races in 2012."
Shaun confirmed to isleofman.com that the team is considering its options in relation to a replacement rider though at this point in time it looks unlikely.
