Hyperbaric Chamber support from Abacus adds up

by isleofman.com 10th May 2011

FIDUCIARY and fund administration services specialist Abacus has donated more than £1,000 to the Island's Hyperbaric Chamber.

The Douglas based company chose the facility as its charity for the quarter back in December.

The funds were raised through the company's ongoing charity staff salary deduction scheme in which staff can donate a set amount from their salary each month into a charity pot.

A different charity is chosen every quarter and the money collected through that period, together with any money raised from additional fundraising initiatives, is donated to the chosen charity at the end of the quarter.

This quarter, staff at Abacus donated £519 from their salaries, which was then matched by the company to give a total of £1,038.

Shareholder services manager at Abacus and member of its corporate responsibility committee John Corteen said:

"We are delighted to have been able to support such a worthwhile cause.

"The hyperbaric medical facility treats an assortment of acute injuries and chronic medical conditions including sport injuries, decompression sickness, exceptional blood loss and the healing of selected wounds.

"We are pleased to offer support for their ongoing hard work and treatments, which do rely on donations and fundraising."
