Schoolchildren will help to promote Carers Week

by isleofman.com 10th May 2011

SCHOOLCHILDREN will be helping Crossroads Caring For Carers to mark Carers' Week next month.

Crossroads has been raising awareness of carers in primary and high schools in the Island and has encouraged students to make displays of what caring means to them.

Their displays will be shown in the Kensington, Snaefell, Hailwood, Peel, Ramsey and Southern Group Pratice GP surgeries from Monday, June 13 to Sunday, June 19.

Crossroads provides services to improve the lives of carers by giving them time to have a break from their caring responsibilities.

This year the charity has provided more than 100,000 hours of direct care and services to people with a care need locally.

Several hundred national charities have signed up to Carers' Week 2011 including carers' organisations, voluntary groups, councils, GP surgeries, hospitals and private sector companies.

The event receives support from celebrities such as Cilla Black, Pierce Brosnan, Sir David Jason and many more.

For further information ring Alex Wilson at Crossroads on 01624 673103 or email mail@crossroadsiom.org
