Efforts are being made to ensure greater coordination between Douglas Borough Council's horse trams and the heritage railways run by the Manx government.
As well as rover tickets, which can be used on all the services, the horse trams are operating from the northern end of the promenade from 9am each day, to match the time the first MER tram arrives from Ramsey.
Yesterday (Monday) saw the first horse trams of the season, which this year is being extended by a week in September, for the Commonwealth Youth Games.
The horse trams are run at a substantial loss, but chairman of Leisures Services Stephen Pitts says the deficit is being reduced (play audio file):
The horse trams will run until September 18, from 9am to 6pm each day.
Motorists are being asked to look out for the horses, and to driver in a suitable manner.
