Plans to replace the Island's breast cancer surgeon with a general surgeon will be debated at a public meeting this evening (Monday).
Health Minister David Anderson will attend the meeting on the future of breast cancer care, at the Manx Legion Club in Douglas.
It's been organised by the Breast Cancer Action Group which is pushing for the retention of a dedicated breast cancer surgeon.
Julie Stokes from the group sees it as a backwards move (play audio file):
The Department of Health is advertising for a general surgeon with an interest in breast care, rather than a specialist breast cancer consultant, but is insisting there won't be a reduction in the level of care for breast cancer sufferers.
The meeting starts at 7.30pm.
