Alf aims to keep it in the family

by isleofman.com 9th May 2011

Politics is in his blood, but he is his own man.

That was the message from Alf Cannan on Manx Radio today (Monday), after he confirmed he is to contest the single seat in Michael in September's general election.

Mr Cannan's great-grandfather served the constituency as an MHK, and his father David is due to retire after holding the seat for nearly 29 years.

Alf Cannan says it's more than just carrying on that tradition (play audio file):

Mr Cannan is the second person to declare in the constituency of Michael.

The other person who has informed Manx Radio of his intention to stand is taxi firm owner Paul Heavey.
