Stress management workshop to be held next week

by isleofman.com 9th May 2011

TWO companies are joining together to explain stress management within the workplace environment.

Resolve and Orchard Recruitment are holding a seminar next Wednesday, March 18, and will look at how implementing simple methods can help combat work-related stress.

The decision to hold this seminar stems from a report published by the Island's Department of Health which states: "Improving the mental health of the population requires recognition of risk factors, the development of protective interventions… and provision of early treatment and care for those with mental health problems, to reduce the impact of illness and prevent long-term disability."

Dudley Butt, the political member for the Department of Health, will open the seminar with a short introduction. This will be followed by information on how to recognise stress, simple techniques to counteract the effects of stress and long term strategies for stress management within an organisation.

The two companies say implementing these methods will lead to a happier, healthier workplace resulting in higher profitability.

It costs £25 per person to attend the seminar, which includes refreshments and a buffet lunch.

Registration starts at 12.45pm with the presentation starting at 1.15pm. It will last no longer than an hour.
