Future of northern churches to be discussed

by isleofman.com 9th May 2011

Problems faced by two Anglican congregations in the north of the Isle of Man will be highlighted at a public meeting this evening (Monday).

Jurby and Lezayre churches are struggling to find the funds to maintain their buildings, and keep them reasonably warm in the winter months.

A key factor is an overall 40 per cent fall in attendances at churches on the Island in the past 20 years.

Bishop Robert says congregations will have a chance to air their views on the way ahead (play audio file):

The first meeting is at the parish hall in Jurby at 7.30 this evening, and there will be a similar gathering at Kirk Christ, Lezayre on May 25

Both meetings will be chaired by Bishop Robert.
