Lightning storm hits the Isle of Man - spectacular photographs

by isleofman.com 7th May 2011

A MAJOR thunderstorm hit the Isle of Man last night and isleofman.com reporter/photographer Bill Dale captured these spectacular images over Douglas.

One photograph shows a streak of forked lightning not unlike the Three Legs of Man.

Several very loud cracks of thunder followed the forked lightning which hit Douglas, moving west towards Peel at around 9.30pm on Saturday night.

Lots of people were out on the streets to watch the amazing spectacle which was followed by a heavy deluge of rain.

Pets were very much affected by the lightning and thunder. It's recommended that all animals should be kept inside during such a thunderstorm.

If you have any photographs of the lightning send them to newsroom@isleofman.com
