Council success for former local

A former Isle of Man resident has topped the poll in the Walkham ward of West Devon in the English county elections.

Deborah Sellis, whose mother Chris Bentley lives in Port St Mary, was re-elected as a Conservative county councillor.

A former staff nurse at Noble’s Hospital, she topped the poll with 12 more votes than her nearest rival.

The Conservatives took control of West Devon from the Liberal Democrats, taking 19 seats out of 31.
