Top performances at Soundcheck 'on tour' gig

by isleofman.com 6th May 2011

THE first Soundcheck on Tour gig took place at the Falcon's Nest in Port Erin earlier this week.

Youth officer Dave Hattersley said: "The gig kicked off with a stunning solo set from Jake Orritt which was then followed by the beautiful voice of soloist Scarlett Brunstrom who sang superbly well for only her second gig.

"Next on stage were the Kinky Wizards who performed without a drummer until 14 year old Georgia Cooper joined them to perform the last three numbers which she had learned only one hour earlier!

"Bradley's Sister did a great mix of rock numbers including a version of the Kinks You Really Got Me and were followed by metal rockers With Eyes Wide Open who did a mix of covers and their own numbers.

"Last band on were Savage Tim who performed some of their own songs and even ended up asking for requests.

"The sound and lights were masterfully controlled by Luke Craig who is a support youth worker based at the Youth Arts Centre."

Soundcheck, run by the the Department of Education and Children's Youth Service, has been running for 16 years and provides space for young musicians in school years nine and above to rehearse and receive tuition from musicians.

The organisation would like to thank the Falcon's Nest for allowing it to host the gig, Britannia International for help with advertising and all staff and band members involved.
