Renewable energy project to be explained

by isleofman.com 5th May 2011

A massive wind farm development off the south east coast of the Isle of Man could provide numerous opportunities for Manx businesses.

That's according to the Department of Economic Development, which will be giving a presentation on the subject to local firms at Energy Expo 2011 this weekend.

It's thought anything up to 1,000 turbines could be built in the zone, just outside the Island's territorial waters, in a project which would take many years to complete.

Senior manager for energy policy at the Department of Economic Development Dr Ken Milne says there will be competition from other jurisdictions, but the Island could be ideal for providing services almost immediately (play audio file):

The Department of Economic Development is hosting Energy Expo 2011 at the Isle of Man College tomorrow (Friday) from 12 noon to 5pm, and on Saturday from 10am and 4pm.
