VISITORS to Ronaldsway Airport last month may have spotted something other to look at than aircraft.
The Manx Workshop For The Disabled was exhibiting a range of products that have been designed and crafted by workshop members.
On display were six limited edition clocks which were made from Manx timber and a range of Manx writing instruments including fountain pens, ball pens and pencils which are all bodied and hand finished in Manx hard woods.
A range of timber house signs which were carved from Manx timber were also on display.
Airport director Anne Reynolds said: "I'm delighted to have been able to provide the to showcase what is part of our Island's ability - to make items of lasting form and function from local materials. I wish the Manx Workshop every success."
The workshop provides a certificate of authenticity with each product sold which names the type of wood used and in many cases identifying the individual tree from which the item is made. This has allowed the organisation to work with Manx National Heritage on exclusive heritage editions of some items.
Martin Sewell, the chairman of the Manx Workshop For the Disabled, said: "We hope to return next year with an even broader display of the Manx Workshop's products - aimed at helping local manufacturers to source their requirements on Island to a standard and response time that exceeds existing suppliers from across."
The Manx Workshop For The Disabled aims to offer meaningful employment and remuneration for disabled people. For more information visit www.mwfd.co.im.
