by isleofman.com 7th May 2011

THE Isle of Man Astronomical Society is hosting a Pie in the Sky event at the Snaefell summit tonight.

The stargazing and supper event is being held in conjunction with Isle of Man Railways.

According to astronomers, as the twilight sky darkens the bright stars of the summer triangle and the spring constellations should appear.

The moon will be visible as a large crescent and in the south sky the ringed planet Saturn should present great telescopic opportunities.

Tickets for Pie in the Sky cost £29 per person which includes return tram rides from Douglas and supper at the Summit Restaurant.

Trams depart from Derby Castle in Douglas at 7.25pm with the stargazing starting at 10pm.

Tickets are available from Douglas Railway Station or by telephoning 01624 673623.
