Local people asked to "think adoption"

by isleofman.com 3rd May 2011

Could you adopt? That's what the Isle of Man Adoption Service is asking local people to consider this month.

The service is holding an information evening for anyone interested in finding out more about adopting a child.

Agency manager Catriona Morris said: "There are over 2000 children in the British Isles looking for a permanent home through adoption.

"Most families only think about adopting quite a young child – under the age of four - but there are many primary school aged children (aged six and over) here and in the UK who also need permanent families.

"We would like to hear from anyone who might be considering adoption and would like to learn more."

The information evening will be held on Wednesday, May 18, from 6pm to 9pm at Centre 21, Greenfield Road, Douglas.

There will be a chance to speak to people who have already adopted as well as staff from the Isle of Man Adoption Service. No appointments are necessary.

For more information telephone 01624 625161 or e-mail general@iomas.im.
