MADE in Dagenham will be screened at the Centenary Centre later this month as part of the Films in Peel initiative.
It will be shown on Wednesday, May 11 at 7.45pm.
The cert 15 film is a British comedy/drama/documentary about the 1968 strike at the Ford Dagenham car plant.
The plant was one of the largest single private employers in the United Kingdom.
In addition to the thousands of male employees there were also female machinists whose main task was to assemble the car seat upholstery.
Unhappy with poor working conditions the women, represented by the shop steward and Rita O'Grady (played by Sally Hawkins), work with union rep Albert Passingham (Bob Hoskins) for a better deal.
As the dispute develops Rita discovers that the women are paid a fraction of the men's wages for the same work on the sole basis of their sex.
No longer willing to tolerate this inequality, she leads the famous strike demanding for equal pay for equal work.
Doors open at 7.15pm. Tickets are £4 (£3 concessions) and are available from Celtic Gold, Peel, or on the door.
Special blue tickets which guarantee a seat but still require payment on the door can be found at Mostly Manx in Douglas, Shakti Man in Ramsey and Thompson Travel in Port Erin.
