Ramsey end Peel's double bid

by isleofman.com 30th April 2011

Ramsey have ended Peel’s hopes of a league and cup double.

Second half goals from Matty Kelly, Matty Skillicorn and Liam Parker fired them to a 3-1 victory over the Combination One champions in the Ascot Hotel Junior Cup quarter-finals.

After a goalless first half at Ballacloan, Ramsey scored twice in quick succession before Gary Smith pulled one back for the westerners.

However, Ramsey weren’t to be denied and added a third to book a semi-final spot.

They’ll now travel to St George’s after they saw off Castletown 2-0.

Again there was a goalless first half before Freddie Ward and Connor Dempsey goals secured their progress.

Marown scored three first half goals to see off understrength Ayre at Crosby.

There was a look of experience about the scoresheet with Ricky Lovett and Neil Gibson (two) grabbing the goals in a 3-0 win.

The all-Combination Two clash went the way of St John’s as they ran out 5-2 winners against Combination Two champions Union Mills.

Mark Wolfenden was the star of the show with a first half hat-trick.

Nick Ford added another two in the second half and, although Nuno Sousa and Eddie Howland reduced the arrears, it was St John’s who earned a last four derby at Marown.
