MEMBERS of Douglas Youth Arts Centre will be performing Disney's Camp Rock: The Musical next week.
The show will be staged at the Gaiety Theatre, Douglas, on Sunday, May 8.
Camp Rock is a 2008 Disney Channel movie telling the story of a shy but aspiring musician who struggles to be able to attend a music camp and then, with her beautiful voice, wins the heart of a pop star.
The film and its sequel, Camp Rock 2, have a huge teenage following.
The stage musical is based on both films.
Head of Youth Arts with the Department of Education and Children Fiona Helleur said:
"Musical theatre is one of the most popular aspects of the performing arts and, with the creation of TV programmes like Glee, singing has really come into its own.
''We have excellent staff to run the show and an amazing cast of young people, all of whom are very skilled and are looking forward to the challenge of presenting this show.
"Everyone has put in so much effort and I couldn't be more proud of how our first big production as a Youth Arts Centre, since we were renamed, is coming together.
"Every element of the musical, from the cast to sound and lighting to scenery and backstage, involves young people.
"This truly is their production.
"We are thrilled to have this opportunity to be the first group in the Island to present Camp Rock.
"It's a great opportunity for the members of the Youth Arts Centre to showcase their talents in such a successful and popular show and I can't wait to see them rock the Gaiety on the 8th May."
There are performances at 3pm and 7pm.
Tickets are on sale at the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre box office on 01624 600555 or at www.villagaiety.com priced £10 for adults and £7.50 for under 12s.
