Manx link with Royal Wedding

by isleofman.com 29th April 2011

As the Isle of Man celebrates the wedding of the year today (Friday), a long-distance connection has emerged, between the Island and the Royal family.

Prince Philip's goddaughter will be glued to her TV set when Prince William and Kate Middleton get married.

Drama teacher Elizabeth Watkin-Grubb was born in the Isle of Man before moving to New Zealand 37 years ago.

She has already planned what she will wear, as she joins the estimated two billion viewers who will watch the couple exchange vows at Westminster Abbey on Friday evening New Zealand time.

Her father and the Duke of Edinburgh were in the Royal Navy together and remained great friends.
