Call goes out for more foster carers

by isleofman.com 29th April 2011

The head of the Isle of Man's fostering service is appealing to would-be carers to get in touch.

Fiona Lassen says there is a real need to find people who can foster long term for children who will never be able to go back to their birth parents.

She says it's vital those vulnerable youngsters are given the chance to experience a secure family life.

Fostering First is hosting a series of drop-in sessions so anyone who is interested can meet existing carers and members of staff.

Ms Lassen says a huge amount of support is available for anyone who decides they can offer a home to a child (play audio file):

There will three drop-in sessions, at Southlands in Port St Mary on May 10, Peel's Philip Christian Centre on May 12, and the Children's Centre in Woodbourne Road, Douglas on May 17.

All three sessions will run from 2pm to 7pm.
