The case against a woman accused of stabbing a man has been dropped, with Deemster Moran slamming police officers' handling of the matter.
In his judgement, he said there were multiple serious failures which he called 'an almost complete dereliction of duty'.
Deemster Moran's comments relate to the treatment of CCTV footage concerning an incident involving a Sydney Tomlinson, during TT fortnight last year.
Miss Tomlinson, the daughter of a police officer, was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, after allegedly stabbing a man accused of fighting with her boyfriend.
In his judgement, Deemster Moran said it was abundantly clear the investigating officers were aware of the existence of the CCTV footage and its relevance, and gave the impression at one point they were intending to use it.
Among his damning comments, Deemster Moran described a PC Corlett's assertion he had seen nothing of evidential value on one tape as 'absurd'.
He said in summary the officers failed to obtain and preserve any of the footage from any of the numerous cameras that would have shown relevant events.
He continued that all they did get was footage of an unrelated, irrelevant incident selected for them by a completely unqualified witness who knew nothing about the relevant events of the case.
