Lesson 'quickly learned' after Chernobyl

The Isle of Man would be much better prepared should another nuclear disaster happen.

So says Manx Radio's Countryside presenter John Kennaugh as the world marks the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl catastrophe, this week.

Back in 1986, radiation levels weren't routinely monitored, meaning the Island couldn't tell how badly livestock such as sheep were affected.

But Mr Kennaugh says, in the aftermath, that was a lesson which was quickly learned:
