Cannan's son to stand in Michael?

Michael MHK David Cannan is giving nothing away as to whether his son will be contesting the western seat in September's general election.

Mr Cannan has represented the area for 29 years, but yesterday (Tuesday) announced his intention to stand down.

However, there are persistent rumours his son Alfie may want to try and continue his work.

To date, Mr Cannan junior hasn't announced any such intention and, speaking to John Moss on Mandate this morning, Mr Cannan senior was playing his cards close to his chest:
