by isleofman.com 25th April 2011

THE annual Easter art exhibition, hosted by the Isle of Man Art Society, continues today at the Villa Marina Arcade in Douglas.

More than 400 works of art by all the leading Manx artists are on display - the majority being for sale

This year’s raffle prize is a watercolour by well known Ramsey artist Michel Tramontana.

The Isle of Man Art Society was founded in 1953 with 28 enthusiastic members. It now has more than 300 and has enjoyed a resurgence of interest in recent years.

The society offers weekend workshops, summer painting weeks, illustrated talks, silent auctions, social events and life drawing classes.

Its main objective, according to the official website is “to promote the interests of its members in painting and the kindred arts through various mediums including watercolours, oils, acrylics, pastels, and sculpture.”

Membership application forms are available on the website www.isleofmanartsociety.com

The show runs through until April 28th and opens each day at 10am. Admission is £2 for adults - children free.
