A special day at the abbey

by isleofman.com 22nd April 2011

Manx residents have been reflecting on a special day after receiving Maundy money from the Queen in an historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

The Isle of Man was represented for the first time at the service, with 40 Islanders among those receiving purses on the monarch's 85th birthday.

John Kennaugh, Barbara Barron, Reverend Brian Humphreys, Lord Bishop Robert Paterson, Ann Quilliam and Nan Garlick were some of the recipients (play audio file):

There will be a Perspective programme, looking back at the service in the company of those who were there, next Thursday, April 28, just after the 6pm news.
