MHK's pier warning to government

Malew and Santon MHK Graham Cregeen says he is still unconvinced that Ramsey's Queens Pier is a worthy recipient of government money, as the Isle of Man faces the economic squeeze.

Last week, Tynwald voted to spend ?1.75 million on the registered structure, to carry out badly needed repairs.

But Mr Cregeen says that cash could have been better spent elsewhere, at a time when government budgets are being cut.

He also claims the government now faces the prospect of spending even more on the pier in the future:
