PokerStars to offer robust defence

by isleofman.com 21st April 2011

Pokerstars has categorically denied all allegations against the company and says it will "robustly" defend itself and two named individuals.

Authorities in America agreed yesterday (Wed) to allow it to have its domain name back after investigators seized it last week, effectively shutting the site down.

Pokerstars is one of three companies which American authorities claim is part of a $3 billion fraud.

Eleven people are facing charges that they tricked regulators and banks into processing illegal gambling proceeds.

In a statement the company says it's pleased that the US Department of Justice has agreed to release their domain name for use by PokerStars outside the United States. It has currently stopped offering real money poker services in the US.

The Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission says it’s trying to ensure any player who wishes to withdraw money from their account can do so and has confirmed that PokerStars' licensing status on the Island remains unchanged.

Minister for Economic Development Allan Bell says it would be premature for him to comment further on the matter until the full facts have been established.
