Final of Search for a Star 2011 looms

by isleofman.com 18th April 2011

FIVE talented singers from the Isle of Man have made it through to the finals of Search for a Star 2011.

Liam Moorhouse, Simon Lynch, Natalie Cretney, Lauren Simpson and Jodie Teare will fight to be crowned the winner of the X-Factor style competition on Thursday.

Up for grabs is a cash prize of £1,000, a professionally recorded CD and a spot at the Manx Telecom Bay Festival.

Four judges have mentored the singers throughout the process. George Campbell, community affairs manager for Alliance and Leicester International, is one of the judges. He said: "2011 has really seen the bar being raised in the level of the singers. Each of them who are in this week's grand final thoroughly deserve their place."

All funds raised from the competition will benefit Age Concern Isle of Man. Fundraising officer Carole Male said: "Search for as Star is a lot of fun and is one of our biggest fundraising events. However with the support of our sponsors Alliance and Leicester International and G and D's nightclub we could offer the fantastic cash prizes.

"We are also grateful to DAM productions, Jamie Irving and 3FM for all the support they are providing."

The final of Search for a Star 2011 will be held at the Manx Legion Club in Douglas on Thursday, April 21.  Tickets cost £5 and include a voting slip and buffet. For more information telephone Age Concern on 01624 613044.
