THE Children's Centre has appointed Grace Phillips as community fundraiser.
Grace, 22, has worked with children since she was 14 in a variety of voluntary roles including working with the Scouts.
She said that most of her teenage years were spent under a tent, up a mountain or working with children.
Grace was educated in London at the Lady Margaret School, Fulham, and is the daughter of Clerk of Tynwald Roger Phillips.
She moved to the Island when her father took up the post in 2008.
While reading Theology and Philosophy at The University of Nottingham Grace returned to the Island during breaks from her studies, but after graduating with a 2:1 BA (Hons) degree she returned to London briefly for an internship at Central Lobby Consultants in Westminster.
During her three months there Grace's main focus was on lobbying for charities.
She moved to the Isle of Man permanently last year.
Grace said: "I have now fallen in love with the Island and plan on being here for the foreseeable future.
"I love the sea and the mountains. It makes me smile every morning after years of waking up to traffic, the tube and commuters."
Children's Centre chief executive John Knight said: "The Children's Centre's charitable projects have grown over the last few years and in 2011 we will be opening our new community farm.
"The cost of providing these services to children, young people and families here on the Isle of Man is ever increasing and therefore the appointment of Grace into this new role of community fundraiser is key to the charity's future development."
