After their shock triumph over Rushen seven days ago, they were beaten 6-2 at home by St John’s as their dream came to an end.

Four goals from Mark Wolfenden and one apiece from Steven Chadwick and Adam Hayes sealed the first round win.

Combination One Champions Peel were pushed hard by Old Boys before a Mark Crennell double kept alive their hopes of a league and cup double.

Old Boys were reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes of normal time remaining and, although they forced extra-time, Peel took advantage to win the tie of the round.

St George’s hit Braddan for seven in a 7-1 romp.

Two apiece from Blane Slatttery and Lee Gartland, and one each from Robin Bates, Nick Bass and Connor Dempsey, ensured there was no shock.

John McMullen notched the Braddan consolation.

They’ll host Castletown in the quarter-finals after a Steven Harris goal broke the deadlock to seal a 1-0 home win over Michael after extra-time.

Ayre United are through to the last eight after winning the most exciting tie of the round.

They edged a seven goal thriller at Colby whose marksmen were Padraig Keig, Gary Maylen and Steven Kelly.

Colby’s Ari Ludford-Brookes was taken to hospital after suffering a head injury. Both clubs wish him a speedy recovery.

Experienced campaigner Neil Gibson grabbed the only goal as Marown beat Onchan 1-0 at Crosby.

They’ll now entertain Ayre.

A Paul Callow double and a Jonathan Leece penalty fired Ramsey to a 3-1 victory over the Police, whose goal was scored by Jay Watterson.
