Real ale festival to mark pub landlord's 20th milestone

A REAL ale festival is being held at The Whitehouse Hotel in Peel to mark the landlord's 20th year in position.

 

Neil and Christine Keig took over The Whitehouse in April 1991 and continue to be closely involved with the day-to-day running of the pub. Son Jamie became the joint manager in 2003.

 

To celebrate 20 years as landlord Neil is holding the festival to showcase ales from some of the best small breweries in the United Kingdom.

 

30 mouthwatering ales will be available for customers to try as well as the much loved regulars including Bushys and Okells.

 

The festival will continue "until the beer runs out" according to Neil.

 

The Whitehouse Hotel in on Tynwald Street in Peel and dates back to at least 1850. It is a five times winner of the CAMRA Pub of the Year award - which includes three consecutive wins - 2009, 2010 and 2011 - unprecedented in the Isle of Man. 

 

The Whitehouse 20th anniversary beer festival starts at 11am tomorrow - Saturday, April 16. To mark the start of the festival there will also be a hog-roast served from 4.30pm.
