Laxey Blacksmith creates Royal Wedding plaques with a Manx theme

by isleofman.com 14th April 2011

THE Laxey Blacksmith has created a special souvenir to commemorate the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

Allan King, better known as the Laxey Blacksmith, has created a limited number of aluminium plaques that feature the Three Legs of Man surrounded by wording to commemorate the marriage of the Prince.

Allan has been casting his distinctive metal plaques for a few years now and decided that this happy event was worth creating something a little special for.

Each plaque is produced individually in Allan's traditional workshop and take pride of place alongside his more Manx-related plaques celebrating the TT or simply featuring the Manx motto 'Quocunque Jeceris Stabit'.

He owns the only privately run blacksmith's workshop in the Isle of Man and still uses the traditional tools including anvil, hammer, tongs and a hot forge.

Allan produces a wide range of castings in a variety of metals and is always happy to accept commissions to the wording of a customer’s choice.

To order a Royal Wedding commemorative plaque call Allan on 01624 862889 or email blacksmith@manx.net
