Minister says pier issue had to be resolved

The infrastructure minister says he did what he had to do to push through the Tynwald vote on Ramsey's Queen's Pier earlier this week.

The move to grant nearly ?1.8 million to stabilise the Victorian structure was only passed by eleven votes to ten in the House of Keys.

When asked live on Mandate today (Thursday) if he rushed the vote when some MHKs were still out of the chamber, Phil Gawne didn't answer directly

He said the important thing was for him to resolve an issue which had been dragging on for nearly 20 years:
