Gimme a Break - Children take parents to Isle of Man for CBBC holiday show

by isleofman.com 12th April 2011

THE Isle of Man will be showcased as a holiday destination with a difference as part of a CBBC show which will be screened on Thursday.

Sisters Megan and Beth Perks from Hertfordshire took part in the television show Gimme a Break which gives children control of their family holiday.

Megan, 10, and Beth, 12, wanted to inject some fun into their holidays and stop their book loving parents from always taking them to France.

The sisters were offered two different holidays and chose to visit the Isle of Man.

The family visited the Island in July last year and took part in coasteering and kayaking, went searching for seals and basking sharks and took a trip in a vintage car. They also went camping on the beach.

A spokesperson for Isle of Man Tourism said: "This is yet another fantastic high profile piece of coverage for the Isle of Man which was organised in conjunction with the Isle of Man Department of Economic Development’s Tourism Division."

Gimme a Break is transmitted on the CBBC channel and BBC2 and is repeated a number of times on both channels. It was rated number one in the top 10 programmes for children in Broadcast magazine last year.

Gimme a Break will be screened on the CBBC channel on Thursday, April 14, at 5.45pm.
