Port St Mary roadworks ahead of schedule

by isleofman.com 12th April 2011

ROADWORKS in Port St Mary are due to finish earlier than anticipated due to drainage work no longer being required.

The Department of Infrastructure has been carrying out work, scheduled to last eight weeks, in the village since February 28.

Work to re-construct the footways in Lewthwaites Way has been completed and construction work is currently underway to improve the carriageway in Bay View Road. This phase of work is currently on schedule and is due to finish on May 11.

Following this resurfacing work to the Promenade, between Bay View Road and the car park, will start. However this will take less time than expected after anticipated drainage works were found to be no longer required.

This has resulted in a significant reduction in the works programme and means works should be completed by May 23.

Businesses in the area are open as usual and pedestrian access to all properties will be maintained for the duration of the works.

The department has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
