A CHARITY set up in memory of a former Mayor of Douglas has been officially launched.
Dot's Dream Foundation was set up to continue the charitable work carried out by Dot Pitts.
She raised more than £36,000 during her mayoral year, 2008-2009, before she died on November 9 last year following a long illness with bowel cancer.
The Manx registered charity will raise money to help the fight against cancer and to provide facilities for cancer patients and their families.
The current Mayor of Douglas, Ritchie McNicholl, held a reception to launch the charity in Douglas Town Hall. The foundation will be one of the charities to benefit from the Mayor's 2011-2012 charity appeal fund.
Fundraisers planned for this year include a Hot Gossip hair day, cycle the TT course, MV Karina Trip and an Oompah Night. For further details e-mail dotsdream@manx.net.
