Olympic gymnast to lend a hand for Commonwealth Youth Games

by isleofman.com 11th April 2011

OLYMPIC gymnast Beth Tweddle will attend a Commonwealth Youth Games recruitment drive on Thursday.

The volunteer drive is being held at the Strand Shopping Centre in Douglas on Thursday and Friday, to encourage people to sign up to help out in September.

Beth is Great Britain's most successful gymnast ever, a seven time British Champion, five times European Champion, three times World Champion and an Olympian in 2004 and 2008.

The volunteer day is being organised by Britannia International. Managing Director Mark Beresford said: "It has been a great boost for us to hear that Beth will be taking time out of what is an extremely busy schedule to come and support the Commonwealth Youth Games in its drive for volunteers.

"We really hope as many people as possible come down to see us in the Strand Centre to find out more about the opportunities they have to support such an important event for the Isle of Man."

Britannia International Staff and representatives from the Commonwealth Youth Games Committee will have information and sign up forms for people wishing to volunteer. Beth should be on the stand from 11.30am on Thursday, April 14.

The Commonwealth Youth Games will take place between September 7 to September 13.
