Karen makes Cleveland history

The top prize at the Manx Music Festival was won by Karen Elliott of Peel in the Royal Hall at the Villa Marina last night (Saturday).

She made history by becoming the first contestant to win five Cleveland medals, with her rendition of a set piece by Thomas Arne and Holiday in Heaven by Michael Head.

Meanwhile, the Sheffield Plate for the best young voice in the Guild was won by Nick Harvey from the Dhoon.

Afterwards, Karen said the thrill of victory certainly hadn't worn thin, despite her four previous successes:
