Title race on a knife edge

by isleofman.com 9th April 2011

The race for the Wi Manx Mixed Premier League is going to the wire.

That’s after Valkyrs A won the match of the day to inflict a first defeat of the season on champions Bacchas A.

A hat-trick from Gareth Morris and two from Greg Miller fired them to a 5-2 victory and up to second in the table, while Bacchas A – who scored through Jonny Callow and Karl Moore - slipped from top to third.

Vikings A have moved top after edging a seven goal thriller against Celts.

Steven Crowe, Juan Corlett, Dave Millward and Zoe Carney scored the goals in a 4-3 victory as they were pushed hard by Celts for whom Kieran Callister, Christian Steriopolous and Sven Lindeque netted.

Valkyrs B secured a crucial 2-1 win against Bacchas, thanks to goals from Steven Lowe and Steven Moore, to move further adrift of the drop zone.

Sean Corlett scored for Bacchas B.

That result means Vikings B have to win their final two games to have any chance of staying up as they went down 3-2 to Ramsey A.

Christian Davies and Jonny Killey were their marksmen but Ramsey took the points.
