Three first timers among Cleveland finalists

The stage is set for the climax of the 119th Manx Music Festival.

The winners of the six special solo classes will take part in the Cleveland Medal Test in the Villa Marina's Royal Hall this evening (Saturday).

Previous winners Karen Elliott and Terry Qualtrough are in the final, alongside Simon Fletcher and three first-time qualifiers, Cathy Quayle, Timothy Riley and Olivia Black.

Four of the finalists share the same music teacher in Eleanor Shimmin, a holder of three Cleveland Medals herself.

However, she is off the Island today, singing at the wedding of a former pupil in the United Kingdom!

Chairman of the Festival Committee Allan Wilcocks says it's unclear whether one teacher has had so many pupils in the final before:
