SCOILL Vallajeelt took the top honours in two major Island sporting competitions this week.
The school won the Dolphin Trophy Swimming Gala which was held at the NSC in Douglas.
Many of the Island’s best swimmers began their careers in the Dolphin Gala.
The races were very close as pupils aged nine to 11 competed in freestyle, breaststroke and relay races.
Araceli Cruz-O'Dwyer, the mother of swimmer Oscar Cruz-O’Dwyer, said: "It was not just the quality of swimming but the whole team supporting each other, that made me and other parents very proud."
The school also performed well in the Zurich Mini Tennis Championships which were held at Albany Tennis Club.
Seven and eight year old pupils represented the school in the final which saw eight other teams compete.
Vallajeelt made their way to the last stages of the championships, for primary schools, and took on The Buchan in the final. Its year three won by just one point.
Adrian Shorthouse, the school's headteacher, said: "Achievement is one of our school's core values that we actively promote on a daily basis. However achievement does not come without commitment, compromise and courage. Children at Vallajeelt regularly exhibit these qualities and deserve the success that comes their way."
